*Bang lost his parents when the North Korean government authorities executed his parents in the 90's for crossing over to China to make a living and coming in contact with a 'South Korean' person, and had to live with his relatives. Not being able to continue life in North Korea, Bang decided to cross the border to China. However, the conditions in China were precarious as well, and the journey to South Korea and freedom seemed out of his financial grasp. Luckily, he was connected to NAUH and was able to travel to safety.
**Han had lost contact with his mother and grandmother who left when he was five years old for around ten years. Han recently got to know that his mother was in South Korea. However, his grandmother is suffering from an illness which causes his family great financial burden. So Han reached out to NAUH for help and is now in a safe country.
** Park had to live apart from her parents at the age of 12. she went to live with her father's parents and her brother with their mother's parents. when she turned 16, she escaped to China with the brokers that said that they will find her parents, but was trafficked and had to live under custody of her captor for ten years. She came across the news of North Korean refugee rescues that NAUH performs over the TV report, but had no means to contact NAUH. One day luckily she came in contact with a Joseon ethnic Chinese woman and asked to pass her story on to someone who could help. The lady came to Korea and contacted NAUH for help. Now Park is in a safe country.
